Dailies: Blogger Recognition Award, Round Two

bloggerrecognitionaward

This is a rare “Dailies” for me, but it’s a special occasion (and not just Thanksgiving, although related, I suppose).

Well, folks, I’d like to give a shout out to SteveB, who nominated me for the Blogger Recognition Award. Nice to be recognized—once more!

Here are the rules:

1. Display an image of the award.

2. Provide a list of these rules.

3. Link back to the blog of the person who nominated you.

4. Tell how your blog got started

5. Give advice to new bloggers

6. Nominate 15 bloggers and their blogs for the award

7. Notify each of the nominees with a post on their blog.

1. & 2.

Check!

3. Link back to the blog of the person who nominated you.

Thanks, nominator: SteveB blogs at “Expat in Bacolod,” covering aspects of his former life as a barrister and matters relating to the legal profession, but his subjects range widely—words, food, childhood memories, and more. Check out his site here. I’ll also mention IamDonovan, who blogs at CoolBeans4: she nominated me earlier this month; her blog covers TV, movies, music, and books. Give it a look-see.

4. Tell how your blog got started.

After watching the documentary Side by Side (2012), I began to grasp the reality that digital technology is quickly outpacing film (i.e., the photochemical process of creating celluloid film). I wanted to find out more about the history of film, so I suppose the blog was a sort of education—perhaps more for me than anyone else! Finally, I had an adbundance of written material on film and TV that I had no idea what to do with. Why not use it as the basis for a blog?

5. Give advice to new bloggers

Always ask for advice!

Spend a while tinkering with design and ask yourself, “How do my aesthetic choices (font type/size/style, color patterns, use of header and images, arrangement of posts) help to reinforce the CONTENT?”

Spend some reasonable time exploring the blogs of your followers—and not just because it’s the nice thing to do: you might bloody well learn something.

Comment and/compliment when the spirit moves you (you’ll move others as a result).

6. Nominate 15 bloggers and their blogs for the award

Here’s my (slightly abbreviated) list:

Nimitode

LadiesWhoLunchBookReviews

Mandala Mala Project

OPRF Life

Science Fiction and Other Suspect Ruminations

Casa Jo’s

Soprano Musings

Rounding30

Kinna Reads

7. Notify each of the nominees with a post on their blog.

Stay tuned…

Thanks again to SteveB and CoolBeans4 for their Blogger Recognition Award nominations.

Have a great Thanksgiving.
